Coated substrates

Coated substrates are surfaces made of materials like glass or mica, covered with thin metallic or dielectric films. These coatings, applied using advanced techniques such as electron beam evaporation, enhance the properties of the substrates for applications in nanotechnology, biotechnology, and atomic force microscopy (AFM). For instance, gold-coated glass substrates are used in optics and biotechnology, while silver-coated silicon substrates are employed in reflectometry and AFM applications. The coating quality is ensured by adhesion layers, such as titanium or chromium, which provide strong bonding between the substrate and the coating material.
