X-ray microtomography

An emerging nondestructive 3D imaging technique

X-ray micro CT (microtomography) uses the same technology as an ordinary CT (CAT) scan in a hospital.

X-rays are used to produce 2D image slices of an object. In a second step, thanks to a software elaboration, these images are combined into a 3D image. The method is non-destructive: it can be applied to biological and non-biological samples.
