In partnership with RTEC Instruments, we present the most advanced solutions for the tribological and mechanical characterization of surfaces
We are exhibiting at the 10th AIT Workshop – "Tribology and Industry", organized by the Italian Tribology Association (AIT) in collaboration with Sapienza University of Rome. Taking place on June 4–5, 2026, at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (DIMA), the event is one of Italy’s leading forums for technology transfer in the field of tribology.
This year, the workshop has an even stronger international dimension, featuring the participation of Nanjing University of Science and Technology within the framework of the Sino-Italian Joint Laboratory on Smart Tribology.
We will be present at our stand in partnership with RTEC Instruments, showcasing state-of-the-art instrumentation for the measurement of friction, wear, and the mechanical properties of surfaces. We invite you to visit us for a live demonstration and discover the latest advances in tribological and surface characterization.
On display, we will present two benchmark instruments for tribological and surface characterization:
MFT-5000
RTEC Multifunction Universal Tribometer – widely regarded as one of the most versatile and advanced tribometers available worldwide.
Integrated in-line 3D profilometer
Interchangeable test modules (pin-on-disc, ball-on-disc, 4-ball, fretting, and more)
Load range from mN levels up to 12,000 N
Temperature range from −120 °C to 1,200 °C
Compliant with ASTM, DIN, and ISO standards
SMT-5000
RTEC Multi-Technique Mechanical Surface Characterization System – a comprehensive platform for surface mechanical characterization, from instrumented indentation to scratch testing.
Nano-, micro-, and macro-indentation testing
Scratch testing with patented 3D image/data correlation technology (U.S. patent)
Measurement of hardness, elastic modulus, and coating adhesion
Integrated 3D profilometer and film thickness measurement
Patented piezoelectric and capacitive sensor technology
Both instruments feature an open, modular architecture that enables rapid configuration to meet specific experimental requirements without compromising measurement accuracy. Today, RTEC solutions are widely used in academic laboratories, industrial R&D centers, and sectors such as aerospace, automotive, biomedical, semiconductor, and advanced coatings.
The 2026 edition of the workshop provides an ideal opportunity to explore the latest developments in industrial tribology. We will be pleased to discuss your measurement challenges and demonstrate the capabilities of these instruments.
