We're hiring! Job offer: Service Engineer Materials Sciences and Industry

Schaefer South-East Europe is a Microscopy services company. We act as a local distributor in Italy and eastern Europe, where we represent few global based suppliers of: microscopy, metrology and nanomedicine lab instrumentation.  

We are looking for a Service Engineer to support our customers through field work.

This job involves activities such as:

1. demonstration of our microscopes (on-site or remotely)
2. field installation, calibration, users training and service-repair.
3. performance of contract measurements, often under NDA, and generating measurement report for our customers.

Requisites

• The ideal candidate is a young, self-motivated engineer with strong self-discipline and self-organization skills, wishing to work in a challenging environment with advanced microscopy tools in touch with customers in R&D facilities.
• The Engineer owns a BS or MS degree in engineering disciplines or physics, with some progressed practical lab experience.
• Candidates with a Ph.D. degree may also apply, although this is NOT an R&D role. This is a tech-support job, with focus on customer’s needs.

Desired skills

• Experience with image processing and metrology software and hardware and mechanical testing (nano-indentation). 
• Working experience with electron microscopes and knowledge of vacuum practices is a strong asset.
• Besides education: a very important soft skill required for the job consists in being able to work with customers, always keeping a positive attitude, also under pressure.
• Good command of spoken and written English is must because our partners are companies located worldwide.
• Valid Italian B level driving license, willingness to travel and ability to lift weights are must.
